KalimNews, 14 Dec: 96 hrs. strike called by GJMM is withdrawn. According to party sources the strike is called off after 6pm this evening though the hunger strike will continue.
Health conditions of some of the participants of hunger strike is not stable and some are facing complications. But from this morning they have denied any medical check up and medications in protest against non visit by any of the governmental officers. Hari Dahal, one of the hunger striker said that they are being ignored by the government so what is the use of getting medical check up.
It is announced by the party that the strike is withdrawn on the request of the BJP leaders L.K.Advani, Sushma Swaraj, MPJaswant Singh and G.K.Gandhi the outgoing Governor of West Bengal as well as P.Chidambaram the Home Minister. It is also expected that there is possibility of withdrawing the ongoing hunger strike from tomorrow afternoon or so.

PTI, New Delhi, Dec 14: Four months after he was expelled from BJP,Jaswant Singh today had his first verbal contact with L K Advaniwhen he sought to reach out to his"former colleague"for his cause of a separate Gorkhaland state.
Singh, while raising in the Lok Sabha the issue of Gorkha agitation, was requesting the House to issue an appeal to Gorkha JanmuktiMorcha (GJM) to withdraw its four-day strike that started today and join talks on December 21.
After appealing to the Leader of the House Pranab Mukherjee, Singhturned to Leader of Opposition L K Advani and said,"my former colleague with whom I have had the pleasure of sitting with for four decades"while asking him to join such an appeal.
Singh reminded Advani about the mention of separate Gorkhaland in BJP&aposs manifesto.
Responding to it, Advani said since his name had been mentioned by"my colleague"in the context of the manifesto, he would say that a Gorkha delegation would be meeting him.
This was the first exchange between Advani and Singh, who was expelled on August 19 for writing a book" Jinnah - India, Partition, Independence"which eulogises Pakistan founder Mohd Ali Jinnah and denigrated Sardar Patel.

New Delhi, 14 Dec: In support of the present agitational programme of Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha a relay Hunger Strike led by Asha Gurung, Core Committee Member, Gorkha Jan Mukti Nari Morcha and wife of Bimal Gurung, President, Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha supported by 11 members of Gorkha Jan Mukti Nari Morcha started today at Jantar Mantar here from 10.00 am. The program was inaugurated by Rajiv Pratap Rudy, MP of Rajya Sabha and BJP National Spokesperson.
Rajiv Pratap Rudy stressed that the UPA Govt. should come forward to fulfill the aspirations of the Gorkhas and Adivasis. He further added that the BJP is committed to the demand of Gorkhas and Adivasis.
He also mentioned that the demand of Gorkhaland is being raised in both the houses of Parliament. Jaswant Singh, the Darjeeling MP in his brief speech highlighted about the demand of Gorkhaland as the just and rightful demand.

Roshan Giri, General Secretary, GJM also spoke on the occasion. He highlighted about the deprivation of Gorkhas under the Left Front ruled Govt of West Bengal. The Darjeeling hills have been subjected to colonial exploitation by the leftists and it is high time that the demand is to be fulfilled by carving out a separate state from Bengal, he said in his speech. Ashok Biswa, President, GJM Delhi Unit mentioned that Darjeeling was never a part of Bengal. Even the White paper on Gorkhaland published by West Bengal Govt. has reiterated this fact. Creation of Bengal is not the division of West Bengal.
Bishal Rai, General Secretary, GJM Delhi Unit mentioned that the demand for separate statehood is founded on the bedrock of historical, economical, political, cultural, mis-governance.
This demand has become an expression of the ingrained and deep rooted aspirations of the Indian Gorkhas the right to determine their future.
It may be recalled that in the district of Darjeeling an overwhelming majority of people comprising of the Indian Gorkhas along with other communities of the Terai and Dooars have been subjected to deprivation and colonial exploitation by the Left Front ruled government of West Bengal.
