KALIMPONG NEWS... Strike of GJVM withdrawn....Left lost to Cong Students' Union in Mal College

KalimNews: GJVM withdrew its 24 hrs strike of 13th Feb. Due to the celebration of Lhosar a festival of Buddhists and Bhutias it has withdrawn the strike, it has mentioned in its statement. Bimal Gurung, President of GJMM addressing the local Press stated that considering the Lhosar festival GJMM instructed the GJVM to withdraw the strike. They will call the strike on a suitable day after a few days, he added.
GJS  submitted a memorandum on Gorkhaland to North East MP Forum 
GANGTOK, February 12: The Gorkha Jagran Samaj (GJS) apolitical organization of Sikkimese Gorkha  today  submitted a memorandum to Mukut Mithi the Chairman of North East MP Forum (NEMPF) seeking support on the  separate statehood demand of Gorkhaland.The executive members of GJS, Prabin Khaling (spokesperson), Shekar Khawas (General Secretary) , Bishal Gurung and Prakash Adhikari submitted the memorandum to the former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister along with documents related with the demand and the Indian Gorkha community.
In its representation, the GJS highlighted to the NEMPF chairman about the demand of Indian Gorkha community for the separate State of Gorkhaland. Meanwhile,Rajya Sabha member from Bodoland Territorial Council of Assam Biswajit Daimari today assured to garner support for the Gorkhaland issue in the Parliament asserting that the separate Statehood demand is within the Indian Constitution. He stated “I had earlier worked as a treasurer in the students’ forum demanding the creation of smaller States like Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Gorkhaland and Bodoland. I know that the separate State of Gorkhaland demand falls within the Indian Constitution and we will support it fully if there is a need to gather support for this demand in the Parliament”, said Daimari who is the ruling Bodoland Peoples Front party in Bodoland Territorial Council, Assam.
Speaking to the reporters here on the sidelines of a one day summit of Northeastern MPs here at Gangtok, Daimari observed that conflicts arises when the minorities in large States like Assam and West Bengal are neglected by the State governments. If the Centre creates smaller States for such minorities in their own land then
there would be development and peace, he said. Both Bodoland and Gorkhaland demands fall under the Indian Constitution and must be resolved, said the MP assuring support to the Gorkhaland demand in the Parliament

SFI LOST TO CP IN MAL COLLEGE
KalimNews: For the first time Chhatra Parishad won the Students' Union Election in Parimal Mitra Memorial College of Mal Bazar. Coalition of C.P. with Trinmool Congress, Akhil Bharatiya Vikash Parishad, Gorkha Janmukti Vidyarthi Morcha, Ahil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad won 18 seats of 22 seats while SFI won 4. The College  was established in the year 1985, the last election was held in 2001 and SFI reigned continuously .
CP coalition won 6 of 1st year Arts, 6 of 2nd year Arts and 4 of 3rd year Arts as well as 2 of Commerce Dept seats and will form the Union. Heavy police force was posted during the election which was held yesterday in the College premises.
