ACCUSED SSB CADET DENIED BAIL

KalimNews, 20 Oct: Accused Rakesh Singh cadet of D Company of 10 th Batallion SSB was produced before the SDJM at Kalimpong Court and charged under 376 CrPc was denied bail and sent for judicial custody. Singh was arrested from Jholung camp of SSB at Jaldhaka as accused in a case of rape. It as alleged by Mangalay Tamang husband of Devi Tamang(25), that Rakesh was caught by him in the act.

Medical examination of Devi was done at Mal Rural Health Center today. According to police source Devi affirmed that Rakesh and Devi were having an affair since six month. Devi a resident of Nagarkatta married to Mangalay has a five year old son and Rakesh of Hirni, Kanpur, UttarPradesh is unmarried. Rakesh denied of having an affair or caught in the act.

Of the eight referred to Sub Divisional Hospital, Kalimpong one was released while the seven were admitted for bullet injury. Condition of Dipak Pradhan with three and Ranjit Pradhan with five bullet injury is serious. Others admitted at S.D.Hospital are Mata Tamang, Dilip Rai, Sanjay Sharma, Pratik Gurung and Kalyan Tamang with minor inuries of splinters of bullet.

A joint meeting between the SSB Official and local public scheduled this afternoon was cancelled. As decided SSB Oficials failed to turn up at 2pm instead they arrived at about 4pm. Local public refused to meet them and presented a petition to the Officer in Charge of Jaldhaka Police station stating that it is upto the administration to make an amicable and harmonious situation for a joint talk.

Meanwhile people of Jadhaka have announced of a social boycott and non cooperation to the SSB camp. It is announced that no public vehicle will take SSB personnel as passenger and nothing like milk, gas and other essential commodities will be sold or provided to them.
